Amazon FBA fee changes 2026: what's new (and what isn't)
Amazon updates its fee schedule every January, and 2026 is no exception — though the headline is that the fees doing the most damage are the 2024-era additions most sellers still treat as edge cases. Here is the whole picture in one page, with links to the detail on each. Figures are as of 2026 for the US; always confirm current rates in Seller Central. To see which of these actually hit your SKUs, run your settlement through the free tool.
What changed
| Fee | 2026 change |
|---|---|
| Fulfillment fees | New rate card Jan 15, up about $0.08/unit on average; a 3.5% fuel & logistics surcharge (~$0.17/unit avg) was added Apr 17. See FBA fees. |
| Holiday peak fulfillment | ~$0.32/unit average surcharge, Oct 15, 2026 – Jan 14, 2027. |
| Aged-inventory surcharge | Over-a-year minimums doubled (to $0.30/unit on 12–15-month stock); a new 15-month+ tier at $7.90/cu ft or $0.35/unit. Still starts day 181. See Q4 & aged storage. |
| Inbound placement fee | The old Large Bulky tier split into Small Bulky and Large Bulky (Jan 15); standard-size rose ~$0.05/unit. See inbound placement. |
| Low-inventory-level fee | Now measured per seller-FNSKU (not parent ASIN); small & large bulky are now in scope; Grocery exempt (Jan 15). See low-inventory fee. |
What did NOT change
- Referral fees — still 15% for most categories, $0.30 minimum; the 2024 apparel price-band discounts still stand.
- Monthly storage rates — unchanged: $0.78/cu ft standard (Jan–Sep), $2.40 (Oct–Dec); oversize $0.56 / $1.40.
- Storage utilization surcharge — same structure (kicks in at 25+ cu ft and over 22 weeks of cover). See utilization surcharge.
The real story: the 2024 fees, now biting
The fee card moved only modestly in 2026. The costs quietly reshaping margins are the ones introduced in 2024 and tightened since: inbound placement, the low-inventory-level fee (now per-FNSKU and reaching bulky), returns processing, and the aged-inventory surcharge that starts at day 181, not 271. Most sellers still price against referral + fulfillment alone and are blindsided by the rest. The fix is not memorising the card — it is reading each settlement and seeing which fees actually landed.
See which changes hit you
Download your Flat File V2 settlement and run it through SettleClear: it breaks out every fee by type, flags SKUs that lose money after all of them (find losing SKUs), and surfaces anything unexpected (the "Other" charge). A per-unit fee that jumped without a product change is worth disputing.
