What is the "Other" charge on my Amazon settlement?
You open your payment summary and there is a large charge labelled only "Other", with no explanation, and support replies with a template. The good news: in the underlying settlement report, that charge almost always has a specific, named line. The summary rolls several fee types into "Other"; the Flat File V2 report does not. This page lists the usual culprits and shows how to find the exact charge. To read every line of your own report, drop it into the free SettleClear tool — it maps each row to a category and flags anything it cannot classify instead of hiding it.
Why "Other" exists
Seller Central's summary view groups account-level charges that are not tied to a single order into a catch-all. The detail is still in the report — in the amount-type and amount-description columns — but the summary hides it. So an unexplained "Other" is usually a labelling problem in the summary, not a phantom charge. The fix is to read the settlement flat file, where each line names itself.
The usual culprits behind "Other"
| Likely line | What it is |
|---|---|
| Storage / long-term storage | Monthly FBA storage, higher in Q4, plus the aged-inventory surcharge. See Q4 storage fees. |
| Advertising | Sponsored Products billed on-account, deducted from the payout. |
| Subscription | The Professional selling plan monthly fee. |
| Inbound placement fee | Per-unit charge for sending to fewer destinations. See inbound placement. |
| Low-inventory-level fee | Charged on thin, fast-moving SKUs. See low-inventory fee. |
| Adjustment | Reimbursements, chargebacks, and corrections — the line most worth auditing. |
| Reserve | A timing hold, not a cost — see why your payout is smaller than sales. |
How to find the exact charge
- Download the Flat File V2 settlement (Reports → Payments → Date Range Reports).
- Find the rows with an empty
order-idandsku— account-level fees live there. - Read the
amount-description: it names the fee exactly (for exampleStorage Fee,Cost of Advertising,Subscription). - Audit it: is the amount reasonable for your inventory and ad spend? A jump in storage with flat inventory usually means aged surcharges; an unexpected fee may be a mistake worth a dispute.
SettleClear does steps 2 and 3 for you: it classifies every line, and anything it cannot match to a known fee is surfaced explicitly as unclassified — never dropped, never averaged into a silent "Other". See the full fee-type glossary, or run your report.
