SettleClear vs the alternatives: an honest comparison
SettleClear is not the only tool that reads an Amazon settlement, and it is not trying to replace a full accounting stack. It does one thing: turn a single settlement report into true profit per SKU and a fee audit, entirely in your browser, for free. This page is a straight comparison with the main alternatives so you can pick the right tool — including the cases where SettleClear is the wrong choice. Figures are as of 2026; verify current pricing on each vendor's site.
What SettleClear is (and isn't)
Is: a free, 100% client-side tool — drop a settlement file, get profit per SKU after every fee, a reconciliation check, a reserve breakdown, negative-margin and unclassified-fee flags, and a CSV export. Nothing is uploaded; no signup.
Isn't: it does not connect to Amazon via SP-API, does not store history across settlements, does not (yet) cover Walmart or Temu, does not file reimbursement claims for you, and does not auto-post journals to QuickBooks or Xero. If you need those, the tools below do.
The landscape
| Tool | Type | Data | Price (2026, approx) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SettleClear | Settlement profit + fee audit | In-browser, no upload | Free | A fast, private per-settlement profit + audit check with no signup |
| SkuSum | Settlement reconcile + profit by SKU | In-browser, no upload | Free core; one-time Pro | Bookkeepers wanting a balanced journal + Xero draft |
| Free settlement analyzers (PayoutExplained, SellerGuards) | Settlement categorizer | In-browser / in-memory | Free | A quick categorized breakdown of one payout |
| Sellerboard | Profit dashboard + reimbursements | Cloud, SP-API sync | ~$19+/mo | Ongoing profit tracking and alerts across cycles |
| A2X / ConnectBooks / BeanHawk | Accounting connector | Cloud, posts to QBO/Xero | ~$19–200+/mo | Hands-off, accurate books that reconcile to the deposit |
| Full ERPs (multi-platform) | Orders, inventory, finance | Cloud, multi-channel | Higher / sales-led | Larger multi-platform operations |
When to use SettleClear
- You want to check a specific settlement fast, without a signup or handing your data to a cloud service.
- You want profit per SKU after every fee, plus flags for negative-margin SKUs and unexplained charges (find losing SKUs, the "Other" charge).
- You want a clean per-SKU CSV to hand to a bookkeeper or drop into a spreadsheet.
When to use something else
- Ongoing tracking across every cycle with alerts — a cloud profit dashboard that syncs via SP-API fits better than re-uploading each settlement.
- Automatic bookkeeping — an accounting connector that posts a balanced journal to QuickBooks or Xero each cycle (see reconciling to QuickBooks/Xero).
- Done-for-you reimbursement recovery — SettleClear can surface suspect fees and refunds without returns, but a recovery service actually files the claims (see reimbursements and overcharges).
- Multi-platform (Walmart, Temu, TikTok) — today SettleClear is Amazon-only; multi-platform is on the roadmap (see Pro).
The honest summary: SettleClear is the free, private, no-signup first stop for reading a settlement. Reach for a subscription tool when you need continuous sync, automated books, claim filing, or more than one marketplace. Try SettleClear on your report →
